New format for our dialogue |
Every June in the past, we invited you to join us for our annual ‘In dialogue with Philips Pensioenfonds’ webinar, to learn more about the latest developments from myself and the other members of the Board of Trustees. We would also answer your questions, which helped us to understand your concerns and queries. Last year we gave some thought to this arrangement and how you prefer to receive your information. We discussed that question with focus groups of members. Based on the feedback, we learned that, while you agree with webinars as a way to find out about current developments, you also feel that one webinar per year is not enough. You indicated as well that you expect this newsletter to include an invitation for a webinar, and that you should have the possibility to watch a recording of the webinar. With that in mind we have decided to introduce a system of flash webinars, in which we will spend half an hour updating you on a particular topic and answering related questions. These will not be held at any particular moment during the year, but at various times, depending on current developments and your preferences. We look forward to hearing from you what topics you would like the first few of these flash webinars to address, and I hope that you will all answer the poll. Jasper Kemme Managing Director |

Flash webinars: what do you want to learn more about? |
During our flash webinars we will devote approximately fifteen minutes to updating you about a current topic, with plenty of time afterwards for you to ask questions. What topics would you like us to discuss during our flash webinars? Vote now, and keep an eye on the next few newsletters! |

How do we include good health and well-being in our investment decisions? |
|
|
In the summer of 2020, many of our members took part in our survey about responsible investment. According to the feedback, you agree that Philips Pensioenfonds should accommodate four sustainable development goals (SDGs) in its investment decisions. One of those goals is ‘Good health and well-being’. Since late-2021, more of the investments from our equities portfolio have been made in companies that are making a positive contribution towards that goal, for example by generating a large part of their turnover from care for the elderly or from sickness prevention. The June issue of our magazine Generaties provides more information about this specific development goal and how we make our decisions. |

Results for Q1 of 2022: policy funding ratio 127.3% |
- The policy funding ratio at 31 March 2022 was 127.3%.
- The actual funding ratio at 31 March 2022 was 128.1%.
- The returns from 1 January to 31 March 2022 were -7.0%.
- The pension fund’s assets at 31 March 2022 were € 22,042 million.
Latest developments The actual funding ratio fell from 132.3% to 127.3% during Q1. On 1 April 2022, your pension was indexed and went up. The indexation was processed in the actual funding ratio in March, causing a drop by 7.8% points: indexation means higher pension obligations, i.e. the total amount that Philips Pensioenfonds needs to pay out in current and future pensions. At the same time, however, soaring interest rates during Q1 meant a drop in the pension obligations. On balance, therefore, despite the indexation and the negative returns on the investments, the drop in the funding ratio was limited to 5.0% points. |

Survey: what are we doing right, what needs to improve? |
Philips Pensioenfonds wants to know what you think of our services. What are we doing right, and what needs to improve? To find out, this month we are inviting large numbers of our active members, pension beneficiaries and non-contributory policyholders to take part in a survey. We will use the results to improve our communications and our services. If you receive an email with an invitation to take part in the survey, we would appreciate it if you answer. |
