"Clearly communicate what information you already have about the new pension system" |
This was what we were urged to do in early-April, when we spoke with members about our communications about our indexation decision. The discussion soon turned to the subject of the new pension system, and it was clear that our members have many concerns and questions. If the legislation is passed, your pension will change from 2026 onwards. Before the new rules will take effect employers, unions and Philips Pensioenfonds have to make certain decisions and arrangements. How the new system will affect you personally, is not clear yet. While much still remains uncertain, we do know some things. We have posted an FAQ on our website, and last November we hosted a flash webinar on the subject. A recording is available on our website. The most urgent advice that we heard when we spoke with our members was to highlight that information again and again. They explained that it eased some of their concerns, for example whether their pension savings could run out if they lived longer than average. You can rest assured on that count: they will not. Even under the new system, you will have a lifelong pension. Jasper Kemme Managing Director |

Question: what are we doing right, and what needs to improve? |
This month, we will invite many of our members to take part in a survey to help us answer this question. Last year, more than 1200 of our members helped us by sharing their thoughts about Philips Pensioenfonds. For example, we learned that 42% of our active members were unaware that the Dutch pension system will be overhauled shortly. In response, we decided to focus heavily on raising awareness last year. If you receive an email with an invitation, please complete the questionnaire before June 5 2023. Your input is incredibly useful to us. It will help you too: your answers will make it easier for us to respond to your preferences. |

Helping to achieve sustainable development goals |
Since the end of 2021, more of our equities portfolio has been invested in companies that are helping to realise four of the development goals as defined by the United Nations. This began with the portfolio containing equities in developed markets (for example countries in Western Europe or North America). Philips Pensioenfonds has invested nearly a fifth of its assets in developed markets. This is being increased step by step. Since early-April, we have a similar policy for the portfolio of equities in emerging markets (for example countries in South America and Eastern Europe). The entire equities portfolio now follows the same policy. |

Versuni employees accrue with Philips Pensioenfonds |
The former Philips household appliances division has been renamed, and is now called Versuni. Versuni employees will continue to accrue their pension through Philips Pensioenfonds. This means that we now handle the pensions of everyone who works for Philips, Signify or Versuni. So this new name has started to appear in our communications. |

"When will I start drawing state pension?" |
— FAQ submitted by Nicole of our Service Desk — |
|
|
|
This depends on your date of birth |
“If you reach the age of 67 years and 3 months before 1 January 2029, your state retirement age is already fixed. Until the end of this year, the age for drawing your state pension will go up bit by bit to 67, where it will stay until the end of 2027. Starting on 1 January 2028, state retirement age will be 67 years and 3 months. From 1 January 2029 onwards, the state retirement age will be linked to the life expectancy, meaning that it could go up in increments. If you will not reach state retirement age before then, it is unclear when you can start drawing your state pension. For now, the information in our Pension Planner is based on the assumption that anyone whose state retirement age is uncertain will qualify for their state pension at the age of 67 years and 3 months. This includes younger members too. Would you like to see an estimate of your personal state pension age? Click below and enter your date of birth." |
