A false start - new opportunity? |
“Will I fall under the new pension system if I retire before 2026?” This was one of the questions we were asked after we invited our members to take part in the ‘Future of pensions & risk appetite’ survey. The answer is simple: yes, all our members will fall under the new pension system. In fact, it will apply to everyone who accrues or draws a pension in the Netherlands. That is why our survey is so important: so that we can learn about your preferences and take them into account when we make decisions about the future pension plan.
It was of course very frustrating that this particular survey got off to such a poor start. Technical problems with the survey tool meant that the survey stopped working for many of you and made it impossible to finish answering the questions. We apologise for the difficulties. The survey has been improved and you have received a new invitation Your input is incredibly important for the survey, and I urge you to give us another chance. If you were unable to complete the questions the first time, please try again. We have posted a Q&A on our website in reply to your comments about the survey and the problems with the survey tool.

In the future, will my pension change every month? |
No: your pension will not change during the course of the year. Your pension benefits will only change once per year – the same as now. However, your personal pension investments will go up and down with the economy. Once every year, we will calculate how this affects your pension. So how does this work? Watch the video for an explanation by Anita Joosten, our Director of Investments.

"I recently married. Do I have to register my partner?" |
— A question that Nicole of our Service Desk is frequently asked —
"No. If you are married or in a civil partnership, you do not have to register your partner with us. We will automatically receive your details from your local municipal authorities. If you are living together but not married or in a civil partnership, or if you are living together outside the Netherlands, it is your responsibility to register your partner with us. Only then your partner will be entitled to a livelong pension in case you die."
